The zonal elimination matches of the 2024 Oyo Governor's Cup were concluded on Friday across eight zones in the state.  The eight zones are Oyo, Ogbomoso I, Ibadan I, Ibadan II, Ibadan III, Ibarapa, Oke–Ogun I, and Oke–Ogun II.  The secondary school competition, which is organised by Schools' Sport Foundation and sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns, kick-started on may 13th, with over 200 Schools participating.  In Ibadan Zone I, Bashorun High School defeated Eleyele Secondary School to emerge champions of the zone, thereby qualifying for the Quarterfinals of the event.  Bishop Phillip High School continued with their great form in the competition, mauling Zumuratual Hujaj School by six goals to nil, in the Ibadan Zone II.  Government College Ibadan, showed their superiority over Owode CHS Bode Ogbo, by defeating them with two unreplied goals in Ibadan Zone III.  In Oke-Ogun II, unlucky Obalufon Grammar School lost via penalties to Olanipekun Memorial H...

Oyo Governor's Cup 2024| Fourteen Matches Played On Wednesday As Zonal Elimination Nears Completion.. The Zonal Elimination of the 2024 Oyo Governor's Continued on Wednesday, with some exciting encounters across Oyo State.  In Ibadan Zone One, Bashorun High School will face Eleyele Secondary School in the final after beating Immanuel Grammar School, by 3-0 and the latter also put three past Ibadan City Academy.  Methodist High School won Bishop Phillip 5-4 via penalties, after regulation time ended 0-0, thereby booking final date with Zumuratual Hujaj, who defeated T.L Oyesina 3-1 in the second game of Ibadan Zone II.  In Oke Ogun II, Obalufon Grammar School were 4-1 better off Ansarudeen Grammar School, Ago Are.  The Zonal Elimination of the 2024 Oyo Governor's Cup kicked off on Tuesday in some centres.  Anglican Grammar School Ogbomosho defeated Ahoro-dada Community Secondary School, by five goals to one to scale through to the next round of the Zonal Elimination.  In Oke Ogun, Obalufon Grammar School won comfortably against Ansar-Udeen Grammar School, Ago Are. The game ended 4-1. Awe High School beat Anglican Methodist Secondary School 3-2 via penalties, after the game ended goalless in regulation time.  Also in Oyo, Ladigbolu Grammar School were 1-0 better of Isale Oyo Community Secondary School.  More matches will be played on Wednesday across Oyo.  The 2024 Erelu Ngozi Adeleke Table Tennis Championship for Female Secondary School Students in Osun State kicked off with thrilling matches at the Michael and Felicia Alabi Hall, Osogbo City Stadium, on Tuesday. Fatimo Kazeem and Azeezat Ifabiyi, both from St. James Grammar School, along with Nafisat Abdulazeez from Osogbo Grammar School, have advanced to the next round after impressive victories in their opening matches.  The Oyo State Governors Cup Preliminary Qualifiers continued across the state on Monday, with some teams confirming their group stage status.  It would be recalled that some zones have already ended their preliminaries, while some are still in the final round. Zumuratual Hujaj, Bishop Phillips Academy, Bashorun High School and Oyo Community Secondary School are part of the early qualifiers.  In the Kajola Zone, Okeho Iganna Grammar School defeated Community Grammar School, Ilua 2-0 on Monday, to get the ticket from the zone.. Bishop Phillips Academy, Zumuratual Hujaj School and Isale Oyo Community High School and Bashorun High School are among the first teams to progress to the next round of the Preliminary qualifiers of the Oyo State Governors Cup'.  The quartet will join 29 other qualified schools in the main group-stage draw after progressing from the Ibadan North West, Ona Ara, Ibadan North East and Atiba zones respectively.  In the final of the Ibadan North East Zone, played at the Loyola College, Ibadan, Bashorun High School defeated Renascent High School 4-2 via penalties, after they both played out a 2-2 draw during normal time.  Zumuratual Hujaj School also beat their counterpart Bioku Alaadun Community Secondary School 5-4 via penalties in the final of the Ona Ara Zone. There were plethora of goals as the 2024 Edition of the Oyo Governor's Cup got to its second day, with matches recorded across over 10 centres in Oyo State.  More Schools booked their places in the preliminary rounds, as some games featured some dominant scorelines, while some were settled from the spot.
